I am a Medical assistant major. I really wanted to go in another direction with my education, but I guess my foot is in the door so I am finishing up as a MA. I have always worked the the health care field, in fact thats the only work history I have.I enjoy going to school and learning new things not to mention being able to mingle with other adults and not just my kids or the same ole people. My kids are my motivation they keep me going. When I get down because of being overwhelmed I often keep in mind that I am not only doing it for me but my family as well.Getting my associate degree is very imprtant but I intented to go beyond that. I think this class will be intresting because I am considering majoring in Psychology when I finish at B&S.I expcet to graduate in April 2012.

I am a medical administrative assistant major. I always wanted to be in the medical field. In fact, I was in New Vision Allied Health my senior year of highschool, and I loved every single minute of it. I was able to go to many different doctors offices, hospitals, dental offices, etc. I knew for sure at that moment being in the medical field was what I wanted to do forever. However, some of my dreams had to be set off for a bit because I found out three weeks after my high school graduation that I was pregnant. It was definitely a total nightmare at first for me, I was freaking out because I was not ready to have a child, at all. I also didn't know how my parents were going to take it, and my own personal issues for the fact that I knew school was just going to be that much harder to get through to reach my career dreams. I made it through my first semester of school at CCC to start some of my pre-reqs for nursing school. The second semester was put off because I was due for my baby in March. I went back to school that fall, and went until I finished up my liberal arts degree. My friends all went on to nursing school and I held off because I knew I would get too stressed out. I saw their work load and just knew it was not my time, so that is why I just finished my two year degree in liberal arts. I went to Oswego State after finishing up at CCC and began going for elementary education. I figured itd be less stressful, which it was, but it totally was not what I was put on this earth for. Currently, nursing school is still too much for me to handle (I have ALOT going on in my life right now that I don't wish to share right now)so I am taking baby steps towards one day finally being able to become the nurse I've always wanted to be. We will stick with the clerical work for now. :) I am very determined to get what I want in life, and right now I need to think about what is best for my daughter and I, even if that means taking ten years to get to nursing school! I enjoy life...alot, and I've definitely learned to be a more patient person. I cant wait to start a brand new career in the field that I've always dreamed about, and be able to provide better for my little girl. I'm expecting to graduate April 2012.

Hi. I am attending Bryant and Stratton to receive a degree as a Human Resource Specialist.Upon graduation, I hope to begin a new career working with employee benfits. i would like to design employee benefit packages and/or employee handbooks.

i am currently employed as a pre-k teacher in a local catholic school. I have been teaching there for over 20 years. I love working with the children but would like to try a new career working with "grown-ups"! Also, I have 2 children to support and am concerned about how I will do that should my school close due to the tough economic times. I believe degree will help me find a good job so I will be able to continue to support my kids.
I began attending classes here in Fall 2006- part time at night. I took a break after the Winter 2008 semester because my daughter was getting married and my son was graduating from high school. i knew that I wouldn't be able to concentrate on my studies while making wedding plans and graduation party arrangements. What was supposed to be a 1 or 2 semesters break turned into a 3 year break! Wow times goes so fast. My daughter made me a grandma in May 2009 and I began helping care for my grandson because my son-in-law was deployed in Afghanstan and my daughter was so close to finishing her college degree. Now, she has her degree and my son-in-law has returned home safely! My other 2 children have be encouraging me to go back and finish my HR degree. I think they realize that I will be happier in a new career and that will make them happy too. Speaking of my other 2 children, my son is attending collegeto recieve a degree in exercise science and my youngest daughter is a sophmore in high school. My children and grandson are the greatest gifts in my life. I hope to someday make them as proud of me as I am of them!

  7. Hello!
My name is Amy Schafer and I'm in Phil 250-951. My major is Paralegal Studies. I have always been interested in legal studies since middle school. Any elective that was offered I chose to take law classes. I am really interested in the many different areas of law and how each law is broken down. Every word that is in a law has an important meaning that many people don't realize.
I went to a community college right out of high school and ended up taking a few years off because such is life I needed money more than I needed to go to school. It allowed me to figure out what I really want to do in life. I chose Bryant and Stratton because they offered the program I wanted and because the small size of the school. I think that's about it!

  8. My name is Alexandra Holmes and I am majoring in Networking/Techonology. I choose this field because IT is something I have been very interested in. Today's world is all about technology and I want to be able to understand it as well as knowing how to use it. I decided to come to Bryant and Stratton because this was the only college within reasonable distance that offered the degree I was interested, now that I am a student here I dont think I would choose to go any where else. Recently I have been able to take some time off of working to care for my daughter and I believe that going back to school is going to help the both of us when it is time for me to go back to work.

My current major is Medical Assisting. I chose to get a degree as a medical assistant so I could get a head start in the medical field. My ultimate goal is to continue my education in medicine and become an RN and then as a nurse anesthetist. I know I have a long road ahead but I'm willing to put in the work in order to achieve success and stability for myself but mostly for my son. I have a 2 1/2 year old son and a husband who is supporting me all the way. I graduated high school almost 12 years ago, and after a few stints in community college while also working full time, it became overwhelming. I decided to chose working over school for a couple of years because I was a recent homeowner and the mortgage needed to be paid. But now with the dwindling economy I know I need to put my part and provide stability for my family. I have always wanted to work in the medical field, but as a child I wanted to become a doctor. Unfortunately due to family issues my dreams were put on hold. But I'm now determined to finish my schooling and become a nurse and make my son and any other children I have in the future proud of their mommy. I'm committed to life-long learning to succeed for myself and my family.

  10. Hi. My name is Eddie Cogdill and I'm taking PHIL 250-951. My major at Bryant&Stratton is IT Networking. I chose this major because I want a job in a career field that will always be in demand compared to my current career as a pastry chef and with the down economy it has been hard to make a living. I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary with a degree in Baking and Pastry arts. I spent 5 years in the Navy as a Culinary Specialists and traveled all around the world from the East cost of the US to the waters Persian Gulf all on the air craft carrier USS Harry S. Truman. Right now I co-own a cake decorating company Called Kerwin's Cakes in Oneida with my dad where I mainly make where I am head of design and production. My people that look at me would never think that I make beautiful wedding cakes.

I am a paralegal major. I been fighting with the courts for over eight years now. While I was studing to be an engineer, I kept thinking about the law. I kept thinking how I was denied due process of law. The state of New York is very protective of its political subdivions. The federal courts are corrupt. The disrict court has refused to regonize the US Supreme Cort's opinion Monroe v. Pape 365 US 167 (1961). That opinion is still good law, yet the lower corts refuse to recogize it as such.

I have decided to become a paralegal so that I can fight with the courts, and so that I can better help other so that they do not have the same problem as I did.

The disrict court ruled that we do not haveto pay federal income taxes if we are not working for the state, the second circuit opinion is that NY is sovereighn and the federal government lacks the power to tax us. That fact is now pending before the US Supreme Court.

I have spent four year in the US Army, I am a desert storm veteran.

  12. Hi. My name is Amy S.and I'm in PHIL 250-951. I'm attending Bryant & Stratton to get a business degree as well as an accounting degree. I have 16+ years experience in retail management and decided it was time to get a degree in what interests me. I've always dreamed of starting up my own business and hopefully after graduation I can make that dream come true. I decided to come to college to get a degree because this one of my other goals in life. I haven't been in a classroom setting in along time, so I thought it would be best to freshen up my skills. My husband and children are my motivators. I have 4 children of my own, 2 step children and we are also raising our friends daughter. Our children are 3 weeks, 6 months, 7, 8, 8, and 12. Believe it or not coming to school is my free time.

My major is Medical Administrative Assisting. I chose to get into this field because I knew it was something that would peak my interest as well as being a good field to work in due to the job growth opportunities it offers. Something unique about me I guess would be that I have played the violin for the last 16 years. I have been out of school for about 7 years now and felt it was about time to go back and pursue my education so that I could get a better paying job in order to have a better future for myself.

I could not beleive it. So finally after a big push from my husband and my whole family I enrolled back in school. I have my two kids Austin and Zoey and they make my world complete and once I graduate next april I want to be able to tell them that it is never to late to be successful. I dont know what life will bring me once Im done with school but Im sure hoping that it will be worth it.
